Alexandru (Alex) Tunsu is a Romanian-born, London-based fashion designer whose work bridges artistic vision and technical mastery. Currently Senior Designer at ERDEM, he has previously brought his creative expertise to some of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses, including The Row, Alexander McQueen, CÉLINE, and Stella McCartney.
A graduate of the London College of Fashion with a Master’s in Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear) and of the National University of Arts in Bucharest, Alexandru (Alex) Tunsu is known for collections that merge conceptual depth with material innovation. His early projects, such as Pulsar—inspired by the human body’s magnetic field—experimented with pellicularized wool, cashmere, and magnetic paint, while others explored themes like “ghosting” and the search for identity through sculptural silhouettes and textural contrasts. With a background in mathematics, computer science, chemistry, and physics, Tunsu’s multidisciplinary approach blends scientific research, poetic storytelling, and meticulous construction. Across his career, he has developed a distinctive style that unites fine craftsmanship, experimental fabric manipulation, and refined proportions, whether in deconstructed runway concepts or the romantic elegance of his work at ERDEM.
